A new case study looks at how Rockwell Collins’ latest ARINC airport solutions are developing travel and enhancing efficiency to deliver improved customer satisfaction at India’s busiest airport.

Indira Ghandi International Airport (IGIA) has been hailed as a symbol of India’s burgeoning progress as an economic and travel hub, serving India’s major airlines, and connecting to 127 global destinations. Listed officially as the world’s 12th busiest airport, IGIA handles around 50 million passengers annually.

A commitment to improving passenger experience

Rockwell Collins worked closely with Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) to deliver a solution that aims to fulfil the goals of IGIA in terms of its commitment to ‘Passenger Delight’, which is a major initiative for DIAL and is driving the shape of the business model.

Today, IGIA is fast-becoming one of the world’s largest and busiest airports, and benefits from its deep and strategic relationship with Rockwell Collins. Together they have worked towards the significant reduction of operational challenges, creating value for the airport through efficiency gains and a maximising of return on investment.

Award-winning strategic partnership

From the first implementations of CUTE in Terminal D1 in 2009, to streamline a dramatic increase in domestic flight passengers, Rockwell Collins has twice been recognised by DIAL with its ‘Best IT Service Provider’ award. Current systems and implemented technologies include:

  • Rockwell Collins’ ARINC Common User Terminal Equipment (CUTE)
  • ARINC vMUSE – Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS)
  • ARINC SelfServ kiosks – Self-service passenger check-in
  • ARINC VeriPax – Passenger reconciliation system
  • ARINC BagLink – Baggage messaging and reconciliation system (BRS)

With solutions in place for passenger processing, baggage handling and self-service applications, in addition to comprehensive integration and complete interoperability, DIAL and IGIA has streamlined operations to handle the surge in India’s domestic flight travel.
