The Civil Aviation Department (CAD) of Hong Kong has selected Aireon’s AireonFLOW technology for air traffic flow management.
By deploying the technology, CAD aims to provide improved air traffic visibility and situational awareness to regional air navigation service providers (ANSP).
Using automatic dependent surveillance-broadcast (ADS-B) service, AireonFLOW offers air traffic management grade data.
Aireon claims that its technology has been designed to enhance prediction capabilities of flow management, as well as relevant air traffic capacity and demand platforms.
Annually, Hong Kong’s ANSP manages more than 400,000 air traffic movements at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA), as well as overflights passing through the flight information region (FIR).
The rollout of the new technology comes at a time of growth for the ANSP and HKIA.
