Abu Dhabi Airports, which operates five airports in the Emirates, has recorded 6.3 million passengers in the first six months of this year.
This was led by traffic from India, followed by Pakistan, the UK, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) and Egypt.

The top five destination airports were London Heathrow, followed by Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin and Cairo.
The airport operator, which manages Abu Dhabi International (AUH), Al Ain International (AAN), Al Bateen Executive (AZI), Delma (ZDY) and Sir Bani Yas Island (XSB) airports, registered 94,538 flight movements in the first half of this year (H1 2022).
AUH’s scheduled passenger flights between 1 January and 30 June 2022 was 94% higher than the same period of last year.
In the first six months of 2022, the airport managed 97,549t of air freight.

In the second quarter (Q2) of 2022, the airport’s scheduled passenger flights surged 117% from the year-ago period.
During the April-June 2022 quarter, AUH covered 104 scheduled passenger destinations served by 22 airlines, versus 74 destinations by 19 airlines in Q2 2021.
India, Pakistan, the UK, the KSA and Egypt were the top five countries in terms of passenger footfall at AUH in the latest quarter.
Abu Dhabi Airports CEO Shareef Hashim Al Hashmi said: “Our passenger traffic results for this year’s first half represent another stride forward for Abu Dhabi Airports and the wider industry.
“While 2021 was a successful year, the target for 2022 was always to build on that momentum by catering to higher numbers of travellers and expanding our airline network with partners while staying committed to the highest levels of service excellence.
“The resumption of regional and global markets and successful efforts of airlines to accommodate demands safely and effectively have been instrumental to achieving these figures. Looking ahead, our aim is to continue building on this success throughout the second half of 2022.”
In July last year, Abu Dhabi Airports selected Trojan for the remaining construction work of the AUH terminal after scrapping a $2.94bn deal earlier agreed with a consortium.
