Figures for patent grants related to followed a different pattern to filings – shrinking from nine in the three months ending April 2021 to seven in the same period in 2022.

FedEx Corp was the top innovator in the airport equipment supply, product and services sector in the latest quarter. The company, which has its headquarters in the United States, filed seven related patents in the three months ending April. That was up from two over the same period in 2021.
It was followed by the United States based Uber Technologies Inc with five patent applications, South Korea based Samsung Heavy Industries Co Ltd (3 applications), and the United States based United Parcel Service Inc (1 applications).
