GMR will run Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA), in the Indian state of Hyderabad, for an additional 30 years.
The letter of confirmation from the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) extends the concession agreement with GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) from 23 March 2038 up to 22 March 2068.
GHIAL is a step-down subsidiary of GMR Infrastructure Limited (GIL).
“This extension is in terms of the Concession Agreement dated December 20, 2004,” GHIAL stated in a regulatory filing.
Opened in March 2008, RGIA is the first greenfield airport in India to incorporate a public-private partnership model.
Launched with an annual passenger handling capacity of 12 million, the airport plans to take a phased approach to ultimately increase this figure to more than 100 million.
