Vienna International Airport, Austrian Airlines and innovation platform Plug and Play have entered an innovation partnership to drive digitalisation in Austria.
As part of the collaboration, the companies will work to improve the check-in process, as well as passenger experience and operations, with a focus on digitalisation.

The corporate innovation programme aims to connect industry companies with start-ups and scale-ups to further promote digital transformation.
Additionally, Plug and Play will provide significant innovative impulses.
Vienna International Airport executive board member Julian Jäger said: “Within this new innovation partnership, Austrian Airlines and Vienna Airport work jointly on concepts, which aim to make passenger processes or check-ins even easier and more efficient.
“Digitalisation opens new perspectives. Through our common expertise and the support of Plug and Play and their start-ups, new innovative solutions will be created.”
Under a collaboration, a joint team of Austrian Airlines and Vienna Airport has been developing ideas to make the processes easier and more convenient for customers, as well as for making operations safe and efficient.
Austrian Airlines intends to improve customer experience and operational efficiency using open innovation principles.
It also plans to develop new digital solutions, products and services for its customers.
Austrian Airlines chief operating officer Francesco Sciortino said: “Together with Plug and Play we want to offer a wide-ranging travel experience for our guests and take a leading role in fostering digital transformation in aviation around the world.”
