Korean Air, the flag carrier of South Korea, has decided to temporarily pause all its routes to Russia until April as a safety measure amid the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine, news agency IANS reported.

The South Korean flag carrier will suspend operations of its passenger jets to Moscow and Vladivostok in Russia.

Korean Air will also halt cargo planes to Europe via Moscow until the end of next month, reported Yonhap News Agency citing a company statement.

The South Korean airline company said that it will re-route some of the routes to Europe and the US from Incheon in order to evade the Russian and Ukraine airspace.

As a result of this move,  routes to Paris Amsterdam, Frankfurt, London, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Washington, Boston and Toronto will be impacted.

In addition to Korean Air, some other South Korean airline companies including Asiana Air and Air Busan have decided to halt air routes over Russia due to security concerns amid the Ukraine conflict.

The carriers will use the route that flies over China, Kazakhstan and Turkey, reported The Dong-A Ilbo. Routes to Amsterdam, Frankfurt, New York, Atlanta, Chicago, Boston, London, Paris, Washington and Toronto will be impacted.
