The Sharjah Airport Authority in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has implemented a new technology to augment operational efficiency and facilitate the smooth flow of passengers at Sharjah Airport (SHJ).
The new Passenger Flow and Queue Management platform is designed to improve efficiencies in various areas such as passports, security checkpoints and check-in locations.
The switch to the new technology is part of the airport authority’s digital transformation strategy 2021-2025.
The queue management system at the airport features sensors, which are integrated with various systems of airports, as well as airline companies.
A total of 112 sensors have been installed in the passenger area to ensure round-the-clock monitoring.
Additionally, with the implementation of the ‘Automated Verification of the Boarding Pass’ system, the airport authority also intends to accelerate the completion of passenger procedures, improve security and enhance airport capacity.
