Melbourne Airport (MEL) in Australia is carrying out a $22.03m (A$30m) Terminal 3 revamp through the incorporation of contemporary amenities.
The redevelopment project will take place in phases over the next 12 months, with completion anticipated by mid-2022.

As part of the project, the main security screening area will be shifted to Terminal 4 from Terminal 3.
This will allow the passengers to keep their laptops in bags while being processed through the airport’s modern smart security technology.
A new departures-level indoor walkway will be added to connect Terminals 3 and 4 to provide enhanced connectivity for travellers.
Furthermore, the passengers will be able to move towards outdoor transport options via improved exit points in arrivals.

The airport recently unveiled new parent rooms near Gates 1 and 2.
These rooms include interactive full-length walls for children while their parents tend to other needs.
Besides, plans are on to launch multiple new ‘iconic’ Melbourne dining venues and stores inside T3.
MEL aviation chief Lorie Argus said: “We are progressively refining the traveller experience through improving the layout, amenities and technology inside all of our terminals to deliver a world-class passenger experience for anyone travelling in or out of Melbourne.
“Overall, the modernisation and reconfiguration of the terminal will enable greater flow with Terminal 4 (T4) and when security screening moves next year we encourage T3 guests to park in the T4 Car Park, as it’s a shorter walk to the gate, especially without luggage.”
In April, the airport finished the modernisation of its international arrivals space located in Terminal 2 under an $62.43m (A$85m) project.
The upgrades delivered to the international arrivals hall include the creation of more seating space, a larger dwelling area and an enhanced undercover taxi-wait zone, as well as repositioned retail outlets.
