Heathrow Airport (LHR) in London, UK, has awarded a contract to Glendale to provide full-scale grounds maintenance service.
The five-year contract, which is valued at nearly $4.2m (£3m), comprises two sub-packages.
Glendale said that the first package is for landside that has already commenced from 1 April 2021 and the second one covers works carried out airside and will begin from 1 January 2022.
Under the contract, Glendale will execute a range of activities such as grass cutting, shrub bed maintenance, weed control, hedge maintenance, woodland management and reinstatement works.
It will also maintain the conservation areas, planting, green walls at Terminal 5 and river maintenance.
Additionally, the contract includes other ad-hoc services, which may be required to maintain the areas of land across the airport.

By GlobalDataGlendale South Thames regional director Nick Brooks said: “We are excited to have started a five-year contract working with the UK’s hub airport again. Heathrow is the UK’s only hub airport and one of the world’s top international aviation hubs.
“The Heathrow portfolio has a diverse range of horticultural features that greet everyone visiting the airport.
“From formal lawns to conservation meadows, there is an abundance of brilliant green spaces framing the airport which will soon be enjoyed by air travellers again.”
The company will also be responsible for the maintenance of airside grass and habitat management, which is a civil aviation authority (CAA) obligation under CAP 772 and is critical to the airport operation.
