Kenya’s Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) has selected Spanish information technology company Indra to modernise its air traffic control system.
Along with JKIA, two other airports in Nairobi, notably Eastleigh and Wilson, will incorporate Indra’s system to coordinate flights arriving in any of the three airports.

Indra’s Air Automation system consists of the automated control centre, control towers and a simulator for the purpose of training the controllers.
By integrating the current sensor network, it will also offer a highly accurate view of the air traffic.
The solution will allow Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) to develop and alter its airspace while becoming familiarised with diverse operational situations.
KCAA will be able to adapt its management to the continuous changes taking place internationally and flexibly control Kenya’s airspace.
