London City Airport in the UK has announced that it will halt all commercial and private flight operations temporarily amid the Covid-19 outbreak in the country.
The suspension came to effect from the evening of 25 March and is expected to continue until the end of April based on the new measures introduced by the government.
The recommencement of the operations will be reviewed later.
Passenger traffic and demand has decreased around the world due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many airlines operating out of London City Airport have suspended their operations.

By GlobalDataThe airport has communicated to the government that the aerodrome will remain open during the time to aid emergency flights, the military or other government agencies.
London City Airport CEO Robert Sinclair said: “In these exceptional times, this is the right and responsible course of action to protect the safety and wellbeing of our staff and passengers, and our city.
“At this time of national crisis, we stand ready to keep the aerodrome open and to work with the emergency services and government to support the relief effort in any way we can to ensure that people and communities get the vital care they need.
“The fundamentals of our business remain strong. The airport is backed by very committed, long-term investors and, once confidence returns to the market, the airport and our staff will be ready once again to quickly return to normal operations.”
The airport added that staff will be employed at the airport during the temporary suspension.
The UK’s Manchester Airport also decided to operate all its flights from Terminal 1, effective from 25 March.
