Dubai Airports has suspended the use of smart gates at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) to limit the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).
Passengers leaving from both airports will not be allowed to use the smart gates that allow passengers to scan their national IDs and passports.

In addition, the airport is also carrying out thermal screening for travellers entering the airport from high-risk countries such as China, Italy, Thailand, Lebanon and Syria.
As per the guidelines issued by GCAA, flights departing and arriving from China, Bahrain and Iran have been stopped.
Meanwhile, flights that operate between UAE and Saudi Arabia will only operate from Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah Airports.
Dubai Airports has also implemented different measures at Dubai International Airport to limit the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.
The airport operator has allocated seven gates for the screening of passengers arriving from high-risk locations.
This includes six gates allocated in Terminal 3 and one in Terminal 1.
Khaleej Times quoted Dubai Airports Airport Operations Control Centre vice-president Damian Ellacott as saying: “We have adopted effective measures to assess the medical conditions of passengers arriving from China, Italy, Lebanon and Syria, among others.”
“Suspected passengers may have to undergo nasal swabbing for final confirmation. We are taking all possible steps to contain the virus.”
Last week, Washington’s Port of Seattle announced extra measures to safeguard the health of its employees and passengers at its facilities, including Seattle-Tacoma International Airport.
