This measure is in accordance with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and health authorities’ directives.

In addition, the airport is also carrying out thermal screening for travellers entering the airport from high-risk countries such as China, Italy, Thailand, Lebanon and Syria.

As per the guidelines issued by GCAA, flights departing and arriving from China, Bahrain and Iran have been stopped.

Meanwhile, flights that operate between UAE and Saudi Arabia will only operate from Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah Airports.

Dubai Airports has also implemented different measures at Dubai International Airport to limit the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus.

The airport operator has allocated seven gates for the screening of passengers arriving from high-risk locations.

This includes six gates allocated in Terminal 3 and one in Terminal 1.

Khaleej Times quoted Dubai Airports Airport Operations Control Centre vice-president Damian Ellacott as saying: “We have adopted effective measures to assess the medical conditions of passengers arriving from China, Italy, Lebanon and Syria, among others.”

“Suspected passengers may have to undergo nasal swabbing for final confirmation. We are taking all possible steps to contain the virus.”
