American internet services provider Boingo Wireless has introduced its neutral host cellular distributed antenna system (DAS) and Wi-Fi networks at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY) in Louisiana, US.

Under the agreement signed with the City of New Orleans and New Orleans Aviation Board, Boingo will operate the multi-carrier wireless services at the new MSY complex.

MSY’s Wi-Fi network is equipped to handle the data demands of 5G. The DAS is designed to enhance cellular signals and facilitate Tier One carriers.

Passengers are provided with high-density Wi-Fi with speeds that can reach 100 Mbps. With the Passpoint technology, passengers using AT&T and Sprint are offered secure Wi-Fi connections.

Earlier this month, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport opened its $1bn terminal to accommodate rising air traffic.

In April, London’s Heathrow Airport introduced high-speed Wi-Fi across all terminals in collaboration with Boingo.

Last year, Boingo deployed a private LTE cellular network on the 3.5GHz citizens broadband radio service (CBRS) band at Dallas Love Field Airport (DAL) in the US.
