UK-based deep location company Pointr has secured a six-figure contract from the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority (MWAA) to deliver indoor location GPS for two Washington DC airports.
The technology will be deployed at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).
Pointr said that its deep location technology will direct passengers to their exact gate and queue.
Bluetooth sensors will be installed around the airport. Built by computer scientists, the company’s technology is fortified by six patents and offers location-based services such as mapping, navigation and asset tracking.
MWAA chief information officer Goutam Kundu said: “As we began the competitive process for a wayfinding technology for our airports, we knew we wanted a company with the experience and expertise to implement Bluetooth technology at two of the nation’s most important airports.”
Pointr Sales vice-president Paul Dupont said: “We are excited to work with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority and provide indoor navigation technology to both Washington Dulles International and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airports.
