German IT security firm Secunet has installed ten easygates featuring biometric technology at Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania.
Of the ten easygates, six were deployed in the arrivals area while the remaining four were deployed in the departures area.

The state-owned airport operator Lithuanian Airports selected Secunet to provide the easygates intended for the acceleration of its passengers’ border crossing.
Secunet installed the gates in less than four weeks and integrated them with multiple biometric modalities at the request of Lithuanian Airports.
The technology vendor also delivered a monitoring application with connections to the necessary background systems for the border control personnel.
The new easygates will allow the border police to monitor several gates simultaneously from one workstation.

The contract also requires Secunet to offer support and maintenance services for a three-year period.
The background systems and public key infrastructures can access master lists through central server infrastructure and carry out verification and authentication of identity documents in a secure manner.
Last month, Vilnius Airport signed a contract with Ginstata to develop a public plane spotting site, which is scheduled to open in mid-September.
Lithuanian Airports also operates Kaunas and Palanga airports.
