Malaysia-based Senai Airport Terminal Services (SATSSB) has been appointed the operator of Kertih Airport, which serves as the main aviation hub for oil and gas operations in Terengganu.
SATSSB is a member of MMC Group. It has signed a contract with Sanzbury Stead, a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) to manage the operations and maintenance services of Kertih Airport for three years from the start of this year.
SATSSB has to offer professional management services and undertake the role of airport operator of Kertih Airport, while will continue Sanzbury Stead to be the asset owner.
MMC managing director and SATSSB chairman Dato’ Sri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh said: “We are honoured to be given the trust and opportunity by Sanzbury Stead to run Kertih Airport.”
Kertih Airport serves as an important link for the oil and gas operations in Terengganu, and primarily serves helicopter flights to offshore oil platforms.
It is also linked by commercial flights operated by Malindo Air to Subang to serve demand from Petronas’ petrochemicals production and crude oil refinery in Paka.

SATSSB will be responsible for safe, efficient and uninterrupted services under the regulatory requirements of the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, Malaysian Aviation Commission and other related government agencies.
SATSSB also operates the Johor-based Senai International Airport.
This airport is currently connected to 18 destinations, including 11 domestic and seven international links.
In 2017, it served its first three millionth passenger. Its passenger traffic has nearly tripled during the last six years, with at least 10% growth every year since 2013.
With a 3,800m-runway, Senai International Airport can handle aircraft ranging from small Cessnas to large jets such as Airbus A380 and Antonov 125.
Currently, there are five airlines operating in Senai International Airport with an average of 90 daily flight movements.
