Italian air navigation services provider ENAV has won a contract from the Libyan Civil Aviation Authority to modernise equipment in the control tower at Tripoli International Airport.
Under the contract, ENAV will deliver and deploy three new workstations for air traffic controllers.
The company will also be responsible for the integration and deployment of ground-air-ground and ground-ground communication systems, as well as the infrastructure for data and wireless networks.
The new technical and operational infrastructure will provide all services required for air navigation. It is intended to ensure full operation and safety of the airport.
ENAV CEO Roberta Neri stated: “Operating in Libya has a strategic importance for ENAV. In fact, the southern part of the Italian airspace borders on the Libyan airspace, which is presently subject to strong limitations for commercial air traffic.
“The new control tower of Mitiga airport is to be completed in March, so by the end of next year, both airports will be fully operational also thanks to our support.
