The Bahrain’s Ministry of Transportation and Telecommunications has contracted Leonardo for an upgrade of radar systems at Manama Airport.

This move is expected to enhance aviation safety and efficiency in the region.

The agreement will see the implementation of Leonardo’s advanced radar technologies at the Manama Airport including the ATCR 33S NG primary surveillance radar and SIR S/I secondary surveillance radar.

The ATCR 33S NG primary surveillance radar utilises a range of processing technologies enabling specific parameters to be customised to any site configuration and boost operational performances.

These upgrades will provide real-time, high-resolution surveillance, improving Bahrain’s air traffic management capabilities.

Spanning three years until early 2027, the supply contract also includes on-site installation and comprehensive in-service support.
