Taipei Taoyuan International Airport (TPE) in Taiwan has entered into a partnership with SITA, a provider of air transport technology, to overhaul its passenger processing systems.
The collaboration is set to introduce SITA’s check-in kiosk solutions to TPE, streamlining the passenger journey and enhancing the overall airport experience.
This move is part of TPE’s commitment to adopting an advanced technology for scalable airport operations.
With the implementation of new check-in and baggage handling systems, TPE aims to reduce wait times and boost airport efficiency.
The upgrade will feature a comprehensive hardware refresh of 80 check-in kiosks, which will serve all international flights across Terminals One and Two.
SITA APAC president Sumesh Patel said: “Our focus at SITA is to deliver technology solutions that help airport operators better manage their infrastructure in a way that is both optimal and makes the journey smoother for passengers.

By GlobalData“Airports around the world are facing challenges on many fronts, from staffing to efficiency, and improving the overall passenger experience.”
SITA will supply local departure control system (LDCS), common use terminal equipment (CUTE), and common use self-service (CUSS) systems for the airport, under the contract that extends until 2033.
Taipei Airport Operation Committee chairman Nelson Wang said: “As part of our improvement programme, the smart use of technology will maximise our existing infrastructure, and provide our passengers with a world-class experience, while supporting our airline customers in managing their operations more efficiently.
“SITA’s CUSS and CUTE systems are key to meeting our ambitions – from managing the flow of passengers through our terminals to making all of our passengers’ journeys smoother and more efficient.”
This development comes as a strategic response to the anticipated doubling of global passenger numbers by 2040, with TPE preparing to accommodate the surge while ensuring better security.
In October this year, SITA launched a new technology hub in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, to drive the development of advanced solutions for transforming air travel.
