Work has started on Phase I of the new combined domestic and international terminal at Auckland Airport in New Zealand.
The move forms a part of the airport’s 30-year vision that was announced in March.

As part of the project, a total of $8.4m will be invested in the extension of the international baggage hall, which will be increased by approximately 2,500m².
The international baggage hall extension is expected to be complete by the end of November.
The airport requires a sixth baggage belt to cater the increasing passenger travel during the peak travel season. The additional baggage belt will have the capacity to handle the luggage from an A380 flight.
Auckland Airport chief executive Adrian Littlewood said: "We are committed to delivering on our 30-year vision for the ‘airport of the future’ and the expansion of our international baggage hall is the first step of many towards a new combined domestic and international terminal."
