Russian Space freighter Progress M-04M has successfully undocked form the International Space Station (ISS) and is on its return journey to Earth.

Progress separated from the docking port on the Zvezda module, three minutes after the departure command was issued.

The spacecraft will stay in autonomous flight for seven weeks.

During the autonomous flight, the vehicle will be a part of the geophysical reflection experiment to study reflective characteristics of the freighter’s hull and the transparency of the Earth’s atmosphere.

The Progress M-04M, which docked at the station in February 2010, is scheduled to crash land in the Pacific Ocean in July 2010.

The Russian freighters are also used to adjust the ISS orbit and conduct scientific experiments.
