Tibet Airlines has ordered three A319s from Airbus to increase its fleet.
The air carrier received approval from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) in March 2010.
Tibet Airlines plans to operate the A319s on routes within the region and to major destinations across China.
The aircraft will accommodate 128 passengers in a two-class configuration and fly up to a range of 1,800nm at Mach 0.82.
Tibet Airlines general manager Liu Yanping said that the proven high-altitude flight performance of the Airbus A319 was key in its intent to start operations with the aircraft.
“In anticipation of the growing demand for air transport in the region, we are planning to expand our fleet to 20 aircraft in the next five years,” he said.
