New Zealand’s Queenstown Airport is set to inaugurate its refurbished international terminal on 1 July.
The $17m project has doubled the airport’s international operations, with a 4,100m² extension to the southern end of the terminal building.

Some of the additions to the terminal include two new gate lounges, a new customs processing area, expanded airside retail outlets, a third baggage carousel and back-of-house handling areas.
A new duty free area has also been accommodated at the international arrivals.
The airport’s new mezzanine floor will house future developments including gate lounges, retail space and air bridges.
Queenstown Airport CEO Scott Paterson said: "It’s been a constant battle as our infrastructure has struggled to keep pace with huge year-on-year passenger growth so this time we are very fortunate to have strong support from our airline users to build a bigger shell for future expansion.

For the past few weeks, different airport operations teams have been working on transitioning from the existing to the new terminal to test systems and streamline passenger flows.
