Cuba is working together with Russia on a plan to connect it to the Glonass navigation satellite system.
Russian Ambassador to Cuba Mikhail Kamynin told RIA Novosti that the countries were currently developing cooperation in the sphere of advanced technology.
“Our plans include detailed work on connecting Cuba to the Glonass system,” he said.
Glonass is the Russian equivalent of the US global positioning system, and is designed for both civilian and military use to enable users to determine their positions to within a few metres.
