Brazilian national tax collection agency Receita Federal has selected Japanese IT company NEC to provide facial recognition systems to 14 international airports.
Under the deal, NEC will deliver its NeoFace Watch facial recognition technology to major airports throughout Brazil, including Governador André Franco Montoro International Airport (Guarulhos Airport) in Sao Paolo and Antônio Carlos Jobim International Airport (Galeão Airport) in Rio de Janeiro.
The project includes the delivery of facial recognition systems with NeoFace Watch software, CCTV cameras, servers and network infrastructure.
NEC claims that NeoFace Watch solution enables automatic facial recognition through photos, CCTV images, recorded videos and webcams to identify people both for security purposes and in customer relationship management.
NEC’s NeoFace Watch system can be integrated with existing surveillance systems to identify watch list individuals and send alerts to authorities in real time.
NEC Brazil president Daniel Mirabile said: "NEC’s facial recognition technology was evaluated by the US National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) as the world’s number one in precision and speed of analysis.
