Edinburgh Airport chairman Sir John Elvidge has strongly opposed construction of a third runaway at London Heathrow, UK, claiming it would have a negative impact on Scotland.

Construction of an additional runway at Heathrow was recommended instead of a second runway in nearby Gatwick Airport by the UK Airports Commission in July.
