Oman Airports Management Company (OAMC) has collaborated with Oman Telecommunications Company (Omantel) to connect all airports in the country through fixed telecommunications solutions.
Designed to be completed in two phases, the project will use the telecommunications solutions to render improved efficiency and convenience for airport staff, passengers and sub-contractors across all connected airports in Oman.
The first phase of the project will use a fibre-optic network with speeds of up to 155MB to link Muscat International Airport with Salalah Airport, while the second phase will connect other additional airports such as Duqm and Sohar airports.
OAMC GM ICT Dr Moaman Mohammed Abdullah Al Busaidi said: "At OAMC, we are very pleased to join hands with Omantel to enable a fixed communications system that links the airports across the Oman.
"This project will greatly improve our ability to function cohesively with the other airports across the nation in addition to significantly improving the passenger experience.
"As Oman’s first and most trusted telecommunications provider, it is a natural choice to partner with Omantel for our telecommunications needs."
