Luxair Société Luxembourgeoise de Navigation Aérienne (Luxair) has signed a deal to buy three Bombardier Q400 NextGen aircraft, with an option for two additional aircraft.
Based on the list price, the firm order is valued at $100.3m, and will increase to $169.5m if the options are executed.
Luxair president Adrien Ney said: "The addition of more Q400 NextGen aircraft with their excellent economics, environmental credentials and passenger comfort is an ideal solution as we open more regional routes and expand frequencies."
The firm purchase agreement is part of the airline’s fleet renewal programme, which will increase its fleet to ten Q400 aircraft.
Bombardier Commercial Aircraft Europe, Middle East, Africa, Russia and CIS sales vice-president Ryan DeBrusk said: "Luxair’s latest acquisition highlights the Q400 NextGen aircraft’s ability to deliver turboprop economics, along with jet-like operations, while servicing some of the most environmentally-sensitive airports across the globe."
The Q400 aircraft is claimed to offer balanced passenger comfort and operating economics, with a reduced environmental footprint. The aircraft provides jet speed and turboprop fuel efficiency, which allows airlines to serve short-haul turboprop routes and medium-haul jet markets.
