Qatar Airways has selected UTC Aerospace Systems to provide wheels and carbon brakes for its 43 Airbus A350-900 aircraft.
Under the contract, UTC Aerospace Systems’ landing systems facility in Troy, Ohio will supply the equipment.
The A350 XWB carbon brakes incorporate DURACARB carbon heat sink material, which is claimed to offer cost savings through fewer brake removals and associated maintenance and overhaul activities.
Qatar Airways received its first A350-900 aircraft in December last year.
UTC Aerospace Systems is said to be the first wheel and brakes supplier certified for the A350-900 programme.
UTC Aerospace Systems landing systems senior vice-president Jim Wharton said: "We look forward to being a significant contributor to Qatar Airways’ future and its continued success."
