Indian airline IndiGo has selected Honeywell to provide avionics technologies for its Airbus A320neo aircraft.
Under the contract, Honeywell will supply avionics technologies, including enhanced ground proximity warning system (EGPWS), SmartRunway / SmartLanding, and SmartTraffic traffic collision avoidance system.
The avionics suite will also include flight data and cockpit voice recorders, flight management systems and auxiliary power units.
According to Honeywell, the SmartRunway / SmartLanding system will be the first to feature on an Indian airline’s aircraft.
The system is designed to help pilots during taxi, takeoff and landing phases, to ensure that the aircraft has a stabilised approach and is configured to land.
Honeywell Aerospace India president Arijit Ghosh said: "By providing IndiGo’s new fleet with the latest technology, we are ensuring that India’s fastest-growing domestic airline is increasing safety and efficiency.
