Bombardier has selected Pratt & Whitney to provide data management services to the CSeries aircraft.

Pratt & Whitney will supply its eFAST system to the CSeries aircraft, to transfer data from on-board health management unit (HMU) to the ground.

The companies will work together to design a data acquisition structure, which will download, process and store information available at respective customer portals.

Pratt & Whitney commercial engines vice-president Graham Webb said: "CSeries operators will be able to immediately review the performance of their aircraft, allowing them to make smarter business decisions related to their PurePower engine fleet.

"This is truly revolutionary and will enable operators to maximise their fleet performance, while optimising their maintenance and reliability expenditures."

"[eFAST] will enable operators to maximise their fleet performance, while optimising their maintenance and reliability expenditures."

eFAST will enable operators to gather critical aircraft system data, to optimise airline flight operations and maintenance costs.

The management service is part of an aircraft health management system (AHMS) designed to transfer real-time and recorded data from the aircraft.

Using AHMS, maintenance and flight crews will be able to remotely troubleshoot and gain access to efficient and accurate diagnostics.

Bombardier Commercial Aircraft customer services vice-president Todd Young said: "The AHMS’ advanced diagnostic capabilities will be key components to Bombardier’s entry-into-service and start-up strategies that will support our CSeries aircraft operators."
