Switzerland based aviation industry supplier group Liebherr-Aerospace has received a contract from Boeing Commercial Airplanes to supply high-lift actuators to its 777X.
This is the third contract to be received by Liebherr-Aerospace from Boeing to supply all high-lift actuators for new wide-body aircraft 777X.
Liebherr-Aerospace specialises in high-lift systems, especially in geared rotary actuators for long-range commercial aircraft.
Under the contract, Liebherr-Aerospace will support the design and development of Boeing 777X trailing edge geared rotary actuators, from the company’s Seattle office in the US, and Lindenberg facilities in Germany.
Boeing has chosen Liebherr-Aerospace to provide iron wing test rigs for 777X and mini rigs for secondary flight controls.
Liebherr-Aerospace’s Lindenberg-based test centre for flight controls will build the test rigs, and the iron wings will be installed at the same centre.

Earlier this year, Liebherr-Aerospace won two other contracts from Boeing, for providing components of the 777X folding wing tip system and the power drive unit, and the hydraulic motor for the leading-edge actuation system.
The company has four aviation equipment production plants, being Lindenberg in Germany, Toulouse in France, Guaratinguetá in Brazil, and Nizhny Novgorod in Russia.
In June, Liebherr-Aerospace separately partnered with Rolls-Royce to develop power manufacturing capability and capacity for the power gearbox for Rolls-Royce’s new UltraFan engine.
The Liebherr-Aerospace and Rolls-Royce joint venture will provide production engineering for the power gear drive train components.
Initially, the manufacturing will be carried out at the Liebherr site and with production increasing in future, the partnership will focus on creating a separate facility.
