Aleris has secured a multi-year contract to supply aluminum plates and sheets for  manufacturing of all Airbus aircraft.

This deal will begin from next year and covers the delivery of technically advanced wing skin material.

The company claimed that this agreement bolsters the partnership with Airbus and demonstrates that it meets the expectations required of a strategic supplier to the aerospace industry.

"We are in a strong position to support the significant growth projected in the aerospace industry, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region."

Aleris president and CEO Sean Stack said: "This vote of confidence from Airbus validates our strategy to expand our global rolled products footprint and invest in technology as we are now able to extend our range of aerospace products and better serve Airbus.

"With world-class facilities strategically positioned in Koblenz, Germany and Zhenjiang, China, we are in a strong position to support the significant growth projected in the aerospace industry, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region."

Aleris claimed that the deal extends its association with Airbus, as the agreement does not only cover aluminum plate and sheet used in applications such as aircraft fuselage and wing structures, but also the supply of wing skins, which needs additional processing and pre-machining.
