The Global 6500 business jet is a new class-leading aircraft manufactured by Bombardier Aerospace.
The business jet offers open living spaces, refined interior design and improved performance. It connects pairs of cities such as Hong Kong or Singapore and London, as well as Toluca and Madrid.
The Global 6500 aircraft was launched at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition 2018 (EBACE2018) in Geneva, Switzerland in May 2018.
The business jet received Transport Canada type certification and entered service in September 2019. It made a worldwide debut at the National Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (NBAA-BACE) in October 2019.
Bombardier signed a letter of intent (LoI) with HK Bellawings Jet for the delivery of 18 Global 6500 aircraft in May 2018.
Bombardier Global 6500 business jet design
The Global 6500 business jet offers superior levels of performance, flexibility and comfort.
It features an innovative wing design with a fully re-profiled trailing edge, as well as an advanced engine core and an ultra-slim line nacelle.
The aircraft is 30.5m-long and 7.8m-high with a wingspan of 28.7m.
Global 6500 flight deck
The Global 6500 business jet features Bombardier’s Vision flight deck, which integrates four large display screens, a head-up display (HUD) and a combined vision system (CVS).
The aircraft is also equipped with graphical flight planning systems, an airport moving map (AMM) and MultiScan weather radar.
It is integrated with the latest performance-based navigational aids, including a wide-area augmentation system (WAAS), localiser performance with vertical guidance (LPV) and area navigation (RNAV) systems, en-route required navigation performance (RNP) and RNP authorisation required (AR) approaches.
The jet incorporates controller pilot data link communications (CPDLC), datalink and high-speed satellite communications (SATCOM) technologies.
Global 6500 cabins details
The Global 6500 aircraft features a spacious cabin equipped with latest technologies and new seating.
The cabin is 13.18m-long, 2.41m-wide and 1.88m-high and can accommodate up to 17 passengers.
The business jet is installed with a Nuage seat that features a tilt link system for a deep recline, a floating base for fluid movement and tilting headrest for improved comfort.
The aircraft features a range of suites, including crew, club, conference, private, and en-suite. A baggage compartment is also integrated into the cabin area.
The aircraft’s Ka-band technology provides hyper-fast internet connectivity, which is approximately 35 times faster than other aviation internet systems and uses the latest satellite technology.
It facilitates in-flight streaming, video conferencing and downloading.
The aircraft’s onboard cabin management system is supported by fibre-optic technology. It provides an ultra-high-definition entertainment experience for passengers.
The first 4K-enabled cabin delivers the fastest in-flight connectivity, while the centralised media bay offers a storage area to connect all personal electronic devices.
Engine and performance
The Global 6500 business jet is powered by two Rolls-Royce Pearl 15 engines that can generate 67.3kN of thrust each during take-off.
Rolls-Royce’s Pearl 15 engine has been specially developed for Bombardier’s Global 5500 and Global 6500 aircraft.
The aircraft can fly at an initial cruise altitude of 12,497m and reach a maximum operating altitude of 15,545m.
It has a maximum cruise speed of Mach 0.90 and a range of 6,600 nautical miles (nm).
The jet’s take-off distance is 1,942m, while its landing distance is approximately 682m.
The aircraft has a payload of 2,617kg, maximum fuel weight of 20,434kg, basic operating weight of 23,691kg and maximum ramp weight of 45,246kg.
Its maximum take-off weight is 45,132kg, while its landing and zero-fuel weights are 35,652kg and 26,308kg respectively.
