ACJ319 is a VIP configuration business jet, in the ACJ family of jets developed by Airbus. The new aircraft was exhibited at the ABACE business aviation event held in Shanghai in April. It will be outfitted at the Airbus Corporate Jet Centre (ACJC), which is located in Toulouse, France.
A customer in China submitted the first order to Airbus to supply one aircraft in November 2012, and it is expected to be delivered by early 2015.
Design features of the ACJ319 aircraft
The ACJ319 has an overall length of 33.84m, height of 11.76m and wing span of 35.80m. It features airframe structural reinforcements and includes forward heated floor panels. It is also equipped with Satcom Aero I/H+, an emergency locator transmitter supply and installation and a dual HF system supply and installation.
It has wind-shear protection, and a head-up display (HUD) to operate in severe weather conditions. It can be loaded without ground support, and includes airstairs, an auxiliary power unit (APU) and a GPS landing system, which allows it to operate in remote airports.
The aircraft has a wheelbase of 11.04m (36ft 3in), maximum ramp weight of 76.9t (169.5lb) and a zero fuel weight of 58.5t (129lb). The takeoff weight is 76.5t (168.6lb) and the landing weight is 62.5t (137.8lb).
ACJ319 Elegance variant
The ACJ319 Elegance, a new variant based on the ACJ319 airframe, combined with a new cabin, was launched in April. The cabin outfitting is carried out by the ACJC in Toulouse.
Flight deck and avionics of the ACJ319
The ACJ319 has a similar cockpit and the same layout of instruments and controls – with similar handling qualities and procedures – to other Airbus corporate jets. This makes it easy for the pilots to change from one type to the other.
Liquid crystal displays (LCDs), rather than cathode ray tubes (CRTs), can be found on the flight deck. The avionics include fly-by-wire controls and side-stick controllers for fingertip manoeuvrability. These controllers also enable pull-out tables, while navigation aids such as satellite navigation and the category 3B autoland capability are included.
Cabin details of the ACJ319
The cabin of the ACJ319 can accommodate up to 19 passengers. It features a bathroom and galley at the front and a bedroom with a bathroom at the rear. The jet can be configured with a range of lounge, office, dining and conference modules based on the customer’s requirements.
It is 24.01m (78ft 9in) long, 3.7m (12ft 1in) wide and 2.25m (7ft 4in) high, and has a gross floor area of 82.70m² (890ft²).
Engines and performance of the jet
The ACJ319 is powered by two CFM56-5B7/3 engines, which provide a thrust of 98kN to 120kN (22,000lbs to 27,000lbs) each, while six additional central fuel tanks (ACTs) give it a maximum fuel capacity of 40,990l.
The jet can fly at a maximum operating speed of mach 0.82, and can climb to 12,500m (41,000ft). It has a range of about 11,100km, while the takeoff and landing distances are 1,850m (6,080ft) and 1,360m (4,450ft), respectively.
