Members of IAM Local 774 have ratified a new contract with Textron Aviation, which promises improved wages and benefits.

Other benefit s cited include a 31% overall wage increase over five years, longevity bonuses, new technical and licence holder premium pays, automatic quarterly raises, and improved rates for defined benefit plans.
IAM International president Brian Bryant said: “Our skilled members in Wichita know what it takes to make Textron Aviation products just like they know how to stick together for what’s right,” he said. “The dedication it takes to stand up with your Brothers and Sisters to fight for what you deserve is admirable, and the entire IAM is beyond proud of Local 774.”

By GlobalDataThe decision to approve the contract was made after members initially voted down the company’s proposal last month, highlighting inadequate wage and healthcare offerings as primary issues.
Wages of Local 774 members are 7% below the national average for aerospace workers, despite being essential workers during a global pandemic and contributing to Textron Aviation’s competitiveness.
Healthcare, another critical concern for many Textron Aviation employees, has been a contentious point.
The industry trend of shifting costs to workers had previously affected Local 774 families. However, this new agreement proposes better healthcare terms.
IAM Southern Territory general vice president Craig Martinas said: “Our members know what matters to them and used their voices as the essential tool to gain more. Textron Aviation is a powerhouse in today’s market and needed to offer more. I am proud of our members in Wichita – they stood strong and won for their families and communities.”
Members will start returning to work from 23 October 2024.
