Garmin, a provider of GPS navigation and wearable technology, has launched the G3000 PRIME, its new advanced integrated flight deck.

The new system improves safety potential and efficiency while reducing pilot workload in every phase of flight.

It offers 14-inch touchscreen primary display units (PDU) with high-definition, sunlight-readable glass designed to enhance both cockpit functionality and aesthetics.

The G3000 PRIME’s displays also incorporate performance improvements including quadrupled memory and gigabit system connectivity, reportedly up to 100 times faster than previous systems.

The flight deck features a secondary display units (SDU) that complements the PDU by providing additional data entry and system control.

These 7-inch SDUs feature a 40% larger screen area compared to previous Garmin touch controllers and can serve as an integrated standby flight instrument display in certain aircraft, potentially eliminating the need for separate standby instruments.

The G3000 PRIME’s advanced multi-touch interface recognises up to ten inputs simultaneously, allowing both pilot and copilot to interact with the same display.

Garmin has infused the G3000 PRIME with a modern yet familiar user interface, combining its extensive avionics experience with a sleek design.

Improved fonts and iconography ensure clear visibility, while streamlined menus offer quick access to essential functions.

The system’s Primary Flight Windows (PFW) and Multi-Function Windows (MFW) provide pilots with full or split screen viewing options to maximise situational awareness.

There is also new quick access bars that help pilots to launch frequently used applications including maps and weather with a single touch.

The G3000 PRIME integrates advanced automation through smart checklists linked to crew alerting system messages, facilitating quick access to relevant checklists upon receiving alerts.

In addition, the new system is equipped with Garmin’s Autonomí suite of autonomous safety technologies, such as the Collier Trophy-winning Autoland, which can autonomously land the aircraft in emergencies.

The G3000 PRIME, certified by FAA TSO, will serve the Part 23 turbine, military, and advanced air mobility (AAM) markets.

Garmin Aviation executive vice president and managing director Phil Straub said: “Twenty years ago, Garmin redefined the general aviation cockpit with the G1000, our first integrated flight deck.

“Ten years later, we introduced the G3000, bringing the first touch screens to the light turbine cockpit, and revolutionary technologies like the award-winning Garmin Autoland. With over 30,000 Garmin integrated flight decks now in service, we are proud to introduce G3000 PRIME, the industry’s most intuitive and advanced flight deck to date.”
