Around 100 flights were cancelled at Frankfurt Airport as a result of a partial evacuation and search operation at Terminal 1 following a security breach.
Airport officials raised an alert at the terminal after a female passenger evaded proper security checks.
The passenger, who had two small children with her, crossed Terminal 1 as she thought the security checks were completed, according to an airport spokesman quoted by Reuters.
The police evacuated the departure area as a precautionary measure.
Operations resumed at the terminal at around 12.30pm, with passengers having to pass through security checks a second time.
The security scare led to a delay in departures, with some airlines diverting their scheduled flights to other airports in the country.
