UK-based aviation servicer Menzies Aviation has agreed on a joint venture (JV) with Sociedade Gestora de Aeroportos (SGA-SA) to increase cargo operations at Luanda International Airport (LAD), in Angola’s capital.
The partnership will focus on cargo delivery services and airport lounge amenities.
Its parent firms said they expect Menzies Angola to handle over 30,000 tonnes of cargo per year, catering to customers including Taag-Angola Airlines, Air France, TAP, and Ethiopian Airlines.
The servicer will also manage the VIP lounge at LAD which accommodates around 45,000 passengers per year.
Charles Wyley, EVP of Middle East, Africa and Asia emphasised the strategic move and how it will impact the company.
Wyley said: “We are thrilled to announce our joint venture with SGA, and look forward to providing safe, secure and reliable services to our airline customers in the region. Angola’s aviation industry is growing with a bright future ahead, which is why now is the opportune time to forge a strategic partnership with SGA.
