Taiwan’s EVA Air has signed a contract with aircraft manufacturer Airbus for 18 A350-1000s and 15 single-aisle A321neos, featuring a contract value of $10.1bn.
The airline is set to implement the A350-1000 for its long-haul requirements adding “new levels of efficiency” across its regional network and aligning with its fleet modernisation goals.
The A350 aircraft, powered by versions of the newest generation Rolls-Royce engines, can fly up to 9,700 nautical miles while consuming 25% less fuel.
According to Airbus, also features new generation engines, sharklets and cabin efficiency enablers, which deliver a combined fuel saving of 20%.
Clay Sun, President of EVA Air emphasised the passenger elevation benefits of the new aircraft.
Sun said: “We have selected the Airbus aircraft following a thorough evaluation of the various models in each market segment. In both size categories we have selected the most modern and fuel efficient types, that offer the highest levels of passenger comfort.

The deal was previously announced in November 2023, witnessing Airbus’ orders of the A350-1000 up to 100 by the end of the year.
Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales, Commercial Aircraft, highlighted how the A350-1000 is a strong replacement to previous generations.
Saint-Exupéry said: “This order marks a new phase in our relationship with EVA Air and we thank the airline for its confidence in Airbus. In the long range market, it’s another major endorsement for the A350-1000 as the natural replacement for previous generation aircraft in the larger widebody size category.
“The A350 is setting new standards across the board in terms of range, payload, fuel efficiency and passenger comfort, while making an immediate contribution to reduced carbon emissions.”
