Siemens Postal, Parcel and Airport Logistics (SPPAL) has received a contract to modernise baggage handling systems at airports operated by Fraport in Greece.
SPPAL will install advanced VarioBelt conveyors, vertical sortation units, horizontal diverting units and Standard 3 X-ray equipment at 13 regional airports to enhance security.
In addition, smart supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) software will be delivered as part of the deal.
Scandinavian Airlines has entered a deal to create new flight routes from Aarhus Airport in Denmark to European cities.
The new flights, which will benefit both business and leisure passengers, will help increase the airport’s passenger traffic by 50%.
Romanian flag carrier Compania Nationala de Transporturi Aeriene Romane TAROM S.A. has expanded its code-share partnership with Alitalia, an airliner based in Italy.

Manchester Airports Group has awarded a contract to Beumer Group UK to upgrade the automated baggage handling system at Manchester Airport.
Beumer will replace the current baggage handling system in Terminal 2 with a new system featuring high-level information technology controls and solutions, in order to improve security.
The company will also install ECAC 3-compliant explosive detection system machines as well as a new conveyor system in Terminal 2.
